Clarke County Fair 2010

The Clarke County Fair was held August 8th-14th at the Ruritan Fairgrounds in Berryville, VA. The Equine Enthusiasts and their ponies moved into the Horse Barn on August 9th.

Dr. Mitchell Rode of Equine Medical Services was kind enough to visit us at the Horse Barn to show us how to check fecals.  Each girl collected a sample from their horse and was shown how to prepare it for viewing under the microscope.  Different types of parasite were shown as well as how to treat or not treat the horses. 

A Pennfield Feeds Representative explained to us the different kinds of grains which go into their quality feed.  They use a special steaming process and a unique way of adding flavor using a giant blower!  Their feed is so good that humans can even eat it!
